Pie for AI: Earn Rewards for Shopping with ChatGPT

PieGPT is a new experiment from the team at Pie. It adds helpful shopping offers directly into your AI chats, enhancing your everyday ChatGPT experience when you're looking for ideas about what to buy.

Ask something like “Where can I get the best deal on Lego sets?” and PieGPT may show curated offers from our retail partners. These can include discounts, cash back, or points you can redeem later. In many cases, you earn rewards automatically just for having a relevant offer included in your AI response, even if you don’t click or buy. The recommendations are designed to be lightweight and relevant, surfacing only when your intent is clearly shopping-related.

If your query isn’t about shopping, PieGPT feels just like the ChatGPT experience you already know. There’s no added friction. Just activate PieGPT inside ChatGPT and use AI as you normally would.

How It Works

• Enable PieGPT in ChatGPT.
• Ask a shopping-related question. For example, “Best standing desks under $300” or “Top-rated headphones for running.”
• If there’s a matching offer from one of our partners, you’ll see it embedded directly in your chat.
• If your query isn’t about shopping, PieGPT won’t surface anything at all.

PieGPT responds to your live intent. It is there when you need it, and invisible when you don’t.

Why We Built It

More and more people are using AI tools to discover and evaluate products. Whether it’s for finding gifts, comparing travel options, or researching gear before making a purchase, AI is becoming part of the shopping journey. We wanted to explore what happens when we embed offers, deals, and rewards directly into those moments, without disrupting the broader experience.

PieGPT is our first step toward testing that idea. It’s not a finished product, and it’s not meant to be the center of your ChatGPT usage. Instead, it’s a quiet enhancement that appears only when relevant and adds a bit of extra value when it does.

This is a reference implementation. A way for us to learn how users interact with embedded offers in AI chats, and for partners to see what a lightweight, context-aware integration might look like.If it’s useful, we’ll expand on it. If not, we’ll take what we learn and move forward.
